9. Prospect Waivers
a. NHLDL Prospect Waivers will be available until the initial roster lock - Tuesday October 10th at 5:30pm EST
b. A player is eligible for prospect waivers if the following conditions are met:
-The player will turn 20 in the calendar year and less than 26 before the start of the season. For the 2023/24 season, this means born between Oct 1, 1997 - December 31, 2003 (Note: undrafted non-North American players born in 2003 are eligible for the 2024 NHLDL draft and are therefore exempted from prospect waivers).
-Has not played in a single regular season NHL game
c. Prospect waivers will operate similarly to free agency. Anyone can post a player, at which point any interested teams must make a post in that thread saying "claim." At the 24-hour mark of the posting timestamp, claims are closed, and the team making a claim with the highest waiver priority at that time will win the player. Please note that the second a player is posted for 24 hours, the winning team will be selected, and the waiver order updated, so teams may freely claim any player at any time. Do not assume the last team to make a claim on a player will win them, any team can post a claim on any player at any time, with the waiver order always being the deciding factor to who wins each player.
d. After a successful claim, the winning team will move to the bottom of the waiver order.
e. Waiver order will reset once Prospect Waivers have concluded for the initial wave of waivers after roster lock.
f. If you win a player through Prospect Waivers, they will be given their NHL contract. If they do not have a contract with an NHL team, they will have no salary until signed in real life.
PLAYERS MAY BEGIN TO BE POSTED AT NOON EST ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 5
